When humans set their feet and eyes on the Himalaya, it is a romantic meeting between the Earth´s youngest species and the earth´s youngest mountain. As the Himalayan mountains have developed on Earth, the evolution of humans has also been accompanied by the making of an inner Himalaya. Every human has a Himalaya within himself or herself. It is the peak of human potential and challenge as well as a place of silence and peace. Our Journey started in the humble roots & persistent efforts of an authentic mountain trek leader, Bachan Rana, who founded Himalaya Shelter, after he had to forego his long journey as a Trek Leader at one of the finest Outdoor Activities organizer in India, in 2013, following Kedarnath Disaster which led to dwindling tourist influx, crippling the tourism sector in Uttarakhand.

You should embark on this adventure because you can do the Brahmatal Trek solo and even with a group of friends during the peak winter months of January and February. It is one of the few high-summit treks in India that stays open during the winter season. The natural beauty with minimal human interference and the panoramic views of the Trishul Range from Brahmatal Lake make it one of the top choices for trekkers in India and across the world.
The Brahmatal Trek is one of those getaways that you can undertake throughout the year. However, it is advisable not to plan your trek during the monsoon season because of a heightened probability of landslides and cloud bursts. You can plan the trip during the spring-summer season-spanning late March to early May, and witness the receding snowline above the Tilandi campsite as well as a fiery landscape of red and pink rhododendrons. The post-monsoon or autumn season-spanning September to November promises clear skies with excellent mountain views, alluring sunrises, and sunsets. It is the best time for photography enthusiasts and professional photographers. For all those who wish to trek and camp in the snow and witness the magnificence of the frozen Brahmatal Lake, peak winter months from December to early February is the ideal time.
Be careful of the essentials for your Brahmatal Trek. These include backpack and daypack, well-made trekking shoes and poles, at least five layers of warm clothing including thermal inners, tops and bottoms, raincoats, 3-4 pairs of synthetic gloves and socks, cap, sunglasses, balaclava, sunscreen, lip balm, toiletries like biodegradable soaps and excess toilet papers, flashlight with spare batteries, water bottles, medicines, and first-aid kit, and instant-energy-givers like chocolate bars.
This high-altitude trek is characterized by frequently changing weather conditions. Hence your Brahmatal Trek itinerary should be flexible and contain a few extra days in case of delays caused due to weather changes. You should follow the orders and instructions of your team leader and do not wander off on your own. If you opt for a homestay at the base, interact with the hosts with respect and friendliness. Try to carry your luggage. Pack for all eventualities but keep your luggage to a minimum. Do not litter.
