Choosing to conquer the Everest 3 Passes Trek is the perfect challenge for an enthusiastic and prepared mountaineer. The Trek is difficult enough that you’re guaranteed a measure of solitude not found on frequently-traveled routes. And, of course, these three passes offer uninhibited views of the Khumbu region.
Those who plan to complete this trek should be in excellent physical shape and arrive prepared to handle high altitudes. Training in the weeks before is highly recommended. You can choose to trek alone or with guides, but booking teahouse accommodations ahead of time is recommended. You will need to obtain an Everest National Park permit to enter the area surrounding Mount Everest. Lastly, Nepal requires all international travelers (with the exception of Indian nationals) to present a valid international visa or purchase one at the Kathmandu airport.
