Adventuring north of Kathmandu and into the Langtang Valley provides an up-close look at the subtropical meadows and alpine peaks, along with every type of landscape in between. Furthermore, by passing through local cultural and religious sites, travelers have the opportunity to learn about and engage with local customs and traditions.
Treks through the area are best completed in spring (February to May) or fall (September to November) in order to avoid the monsoon season. Some treks do require climbing to high altitudes; those who are sensitive to altitude changes should take adequate precautions. Lastly, Nepal requires visas from everyone except Indian nationals—these visas can be obtained beforehand or upon arrival at any entry point to the country.
