What is reccytravel.com?
Reccytravel.com is a discovery platform for adventure travel where you can search, compare, plan and book your next adventure trip. To know more, check our page - “Cross the Line”.
What is an Adventure?
We define Adventure as an inspirational trip where you travel to a remote or exotic outdoor location close to nature, take part in activities that are often challenging, and immerse in the local culture. For example, Everest Base Camp Trek, Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Tour du Mont Blanc, Via Ferrata Mürren – Gimmelwald, Simme River Rafting are all Adventures. Point to note is, an Adventure can have one or more Trip Options offered by the operators. So you first decide which Adventure you want to embark on, then compare the trips offered by different operators and then book the trip of your choice.
What are Recommended Adventures?
Recommended Adventures are the Adventures that you will see in reccytravel.com when you search based on any criteria such as activity, mission, destination, or any free text. These adventures have been curated by Reccy’s experts. On clicking any of the Recommended Adventures you will find more details on that Adventure including (a) bookable trips for the adventure being offered by various operators, which you will be able to compare based on important parameters: price, duration, itinerary, inclusions, reviews and ratings, (b) some quick facts which will help you to decide if the adventure is the right one for you, (c) highlights of the adventure, (d) a recommended fitness plan, (e) a detailed checklist, (f) information to explore and buy (or rent as the case may be) insurance and gear and apply for visa, (g) other adventures and activities that you can undertake from the hub, and (h) information to explore and book your travel to the hub and stay at the hub.
What is a Trip Option?
A Trip Option for a Recommended Adventure is a bookable trip offered by an operator. Different operators may offer trips for the same Adventure, but they may vary in price, duration, inclusion/exclusion, start and end points, itinerary and ratings. Reccy gives you an easy way to compare various Trip Options so that you can choose / save to your wishlist / book what suits you the most.
What is a hub?
A hub is a town/city/village which is the access point or gateway to multiple Adventures. In most cases it is a small charming towns….often tucked in a valley, or perched on a hilltop, may be nestled at the foothills of a massive mountain range, sometimes located in a remote island, or probably acting as a gateway to a jungle, a volcano that you can climb or an ancient ruin. A hub is a place where your adventure begins. At Reccy, we specialize in such adventure hubs, by providing you with a wide choice of Adventures that you can undertake from the hubs as well as by helping you plan and book travel and lodging options which can be a bit cumbersome as these hubs are often located far from metro cities and international airports.
What do we mean by Activities?
While an Adventure is a specific trip, an Activity is a generic categorization of Adventures. For example, “The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu” is an Adventure, for which the Activity is “hiking”.
What do we mean by Missions?
We at Reccy believe that all adventure lovers have a primary reason for exploring an Adventure trip. It may be bonding with your partner, going on a challenging expedition, experiencing a high-altitude trek, combining thrill with luxury, finding a budget trip or a quick weekend trip, or initiating kids to their first active vacation, or something else. This is your mission, your primary driver for searching for an inspiring Adventure.
What are “Challenge Level Classifications”?
Challenge Level Classification or Grade of an Adventure conveys the fitness and skill level that we recommend as a prerequisite for embarking on a particular Adventure. For more details, go to Tools/Fitness.
How many people can take part in an Adventure?
This can vary from Adventure to Adventure and also depends on the operator organizing the trip. Most fixed departure trips form a group of adventure enthusiasts. On the other hand, you can also hire an agency or a guide to create a private group or a guide to take you solo for an Adventure. We recommend that you review the Trip Options in detail and/or contact the operators directly in case you need to know the group size for a particular trip.
What type of events or tours does reccytravel.com organize?
We at Reccy do not organize any tour or trip. Neither do we endeavor to sell a particular trip from our inventory. our goal is to inspire you to search and find your next Adventure, and once you have found that, to provide you with options offered by the best global and local operators for that adventure. We realize that the best way to narrow down on a bookable trip option is to compare them based on a few important parameters: price, duration, itinerary, inclusions and independent reviews and ratings. We enable you to do just that so that you can book the trip with much greater conviction.
