Reccy, a platform dedicated to sports, fitness and outdoors raises seed fund from Rebel Foods founders

NEW DELHI, India (May 20, 2021) – Reccy, a start-up building a platform to cater to the growing population of sports, fitness and outdoor lovers who aspire to lead an active lifestyle has raised INR 3Cr as seed funding from an investor group led by founders of Rebel Foods – Jaydeep Barman and Kallol Banerjee.

Reccy is brainchild of a group of passionate adventure and outdoor enthusiasts from different walks of life. The business will use the raised funds to expand the team and build new products. Reccy’s platform shall offer e-commerce of activewear, accessories and gear. It will also provide a range of services including discovery and booking of outdoor and adventure activities, and access to coaching, training, competitions, local sports, recovery and rehabilitation, and sport specific communities. The company has recently launched the beta version of a discovery and booking platform for adventure and outdoor activities, and very soon it will introduce a new range of outdoor focused activewear range.

Speaking on the investment, Anirban Sen, Co-founder, Reccy said, “This investment will act as a booster shot for the business and provide us with an opportunity to build sports and outdoors as a category in India. Our first product is a one stop destination for anybody who is thinking of an outdoor or adventure trip, helping with discovery and showing options with a range of itineraries, from no-frills backpacking trips that are popular amongst students and younger thrill seekers, to full-service experiential options which are demanded by families and more experienced travellers. For this, top Indian adventure operators, including some expert local agencies and guides who are otherwise hard to find through the internet, have been onboarded. Outdoor activities have seen a slump due to the pandemic, but we foresee a huge pent-up demand once the situation stabilizes.”

Opining on the funding Jaydeep Barman, CEO & Co-founder, Rebel Foods stated, “We see huge potential for the category given how more and more people are looking at options to break out of their sedentary routines . As an ardent mountaineer and footballer I can vouch for the fact that Reccy with its range of products and services will change the way that sports and outdoors are viewed in India.”
