If you want to experience the thrills of the Bhutanese Himalaya in 3 to 4 days, Chele La trek offers breathtaking views of the third highest peak in the world, Mt. Kanchenjunga as well as towering Mt. Jumolhari, Mt. Tsheringang, Mt. Jichu Drake, among others and involves hiking through the Rhododendron forests and Juniper shrubbery of the gorgeous Haa valley.
Although limited in time and distance compared to most other Bhutanese treks, Chele La trek is moderately difficult with quite a few steep ascents and descents while you traverse the high mountain passes. Bhutan is located in a remote part of the world and you will need to change multiple flights to get in and out of Paro, the country’s only international airport and hub for most adventure activities. All treks in Bhutan require permits, which can be obtained only through a registered Bhutanese travel agency. Point to note: many of the trek routes are closed for Indian and Chinese nationals. Please check with your operator for details.
Bhutan does not have railways and, therefore, you have to resort to the means of road transport. There are local taxis that run on a flat rate. - Fire and rescue services: 110 - Medical emergencies: 112 - Traffic police, for road accidents: Call 111 - Police, for emergencies: 113 - Police, for non-emergencies: (+975) 2 322347
