Pokhara | Nepal Fixed Departure 'Fixed departures' are assured departures that will start on the given date as per the given itinerary.Welcome to Nepal. Kathmandu is an incredible mixture of legend and modern development with a rich artistic and cultural heritage. Kathmandu has been a travellers' centre for many years. It’s very important that you attend the welcome meeting at the hotel lobby. However, you need not worry for the schedule as it will be published on the notice board beforehand your check in.
Take a small aircraft to leave Leaving Kathmandu behind early in the morning, its a short and one of the most scenic flights you’ve ever had in your lifetime. Pokhara is just 25 minutes fly away from Kathmandu. Upon landing at Pokhara airport, quickly get arranged with luggage and jump onto a vehicle to driveoff to Nayapul. Its another section of journey which is on the road but again filled with lots of interesting sceneries to see and get fascinated. It takes something like 2 hours to reach Nayapul, where the trek starts from. While you sip a cup of fresh tea by the bank of a stream, your guide and porters organise load of your baggage. The trek starts immediately after you have finished your tea. Gear up and follow the Bhurundi Khola to Thikhedhunga, trek through farmland before a steep ascent to reach Ulleri. At 8091 metres, Annapurna 1 is one of the highest mountains in the world. Its surrounding sister mountains are equally imposing and create magnificent panoramas from any viewpoint. This trek covers a wide variety of terrain, from lowland pastures and peaceful villages to powerful glaciers and stunning mountain views. In the rugged mountain scenery, you stay in mountain communities and meet friendly Nepali hill people as they go about their daily lives. The expedition is not only visually superb but also a chance to learn about local cultures. Along the way, see thundering waterfalls of melted snow, cross icy rivers and reward yourself with a soak in natural hot springs.
Ascend to Ghorepani village through a pleasant rhododendron forest, but the day is full of uphill climbing. However, it doesn’t feel as much of a struggling since there are interesting villages and sceneries to see every next few minutes.
Waking up early and one hour of strenuous struggling up to Poon Hill rewards you with the best views of sunrise over the Annapurna Massif and its neighbouring peaks. This is once in a lifetime scene, if your laze isn’t the winner, you should at least try it once. Then the adventure continues as you continue your trek on to Tadapani.
This morning you’ll descend to Kimrung Khola before climbing again to Chomrong village, at the base of Hiunchuli (6441 metres). There are breathtaking views of Annapurna and Macchhapuchhre from here.
Begin by trekking for approximately 3 hours through the forest to Kuldi Ghar, then down to the banks of the Modi River and up again to Doban.
Passing through Himalaya Hotel, continue up the narrow valley to Deurali. Sticking to the west bank of the Modi River, enter an open valley near Machhapuchhre Base Camp.
Early in the morning trek up to Annapurna Base Camp. The struggle uphill at that altitude takes around 2 hours but the hard work to get here is worth it. See the magic of change of colours of the majestic peaks by sunrise. Stroll around for an hour and then start tracing the way back to Himalaya.
Passing back through the forests, pastures and staircases, trek back to Chhomrong.
There is a natural hotspring on the bank of Modi Khola, where you can plunge and take a well deserved manicure. Take lunch at Jhinu Danda and trek to Kimche where a vehicle awaits to bring us back to Pokhara. It is around 4 hours drive to Pokhara from Kimche. On reaching to Pokhara, get checked into a hotel and rush to the lakeside for a nights party.
In the morning free time to stroll around the lake city Pokhara. In the afternoon take the same short flight that you have taken some 10 days ago. On reaching to Kathmandu, get transferred to hotel and stay overnight.

A. Booking Terms
If the date of booking is before the midnight of the 8th day prior to the trip start date (to be calculated excluding the trip start date), then an advance, which is typically 25% of the total booking value including any applicable taxes is payable at the time of booking. The balance amount is payable before the midnight of the 8th day prior to the trip start date (to be calculated excluding the trip start date). If a customer fails to make the balance payment before the midnight of the 4th day prior to the trip start date (to be calculated excluding the trip start date), his / her booking shall stand cancelled.
If the date of booking is after the midnight of the 8th day prior to the trip start date (to be calculated excluding the trip start date), then the total booking value including any applicable taxes, is payable at the time of booking.
Payments for bookings shall be made online, through the payment gateway of reccytravel.com or other online modes, as advised by the Reccy relationship manager.
B. Loyalty Points
On making the full payment for a particular booking made through the reccytravel.com website, the customer shall earn Reccy Points equal to 5% of the trip value (excluding any taxes payable). Reccy Points earned can be redeemed towards making payment for any subsequent booking made through the reccytravel website.
Reccy Points earned for booking a particular trip cannot be redeemed until the start date of that trip.
Reccy Points cannot be earned in a booking, in the event the customer is availing any other benefit, such as a discount or is applying a promo code.
When redeeming Reccy Points in a transaction, the customer will earn Reccy Points only on the portion of the booking amount for which he / she is not paying through Reccy Points.
Example:
If you book a trip for INR 10,000, including 5% GST, total payable will be INR 10,500.
After you make the full payment for this booking, on the start date of this trip you shall receive 5% of the trip value as Reccy Points, in this case 500 Reccy Points will get deposited as your loyalty point balance.
On your next booking, let’s assume the trip value is INR 15,000, and total payable including 5% GST is INR 15,750. Your Reccy Point balance of 500 shall be applied at a 1:1 ratio to reduce your total payable for this trip booking by INR 500. Hence, you actual payable for this trip booking shall be INR 15,250, with a reduction of INR 500.
Not only that, you will again earn Reccy Points on the amount you paid for this trip, net of taxes and Reccy Points redeemed. In this example, on your second booking you will earn 725 Reccy Points (5% of INR 14,500), which will reduce your payable amount in the subsequent booking.
Of course Reccy guarantees the best price on every product listed on its website, hence your loyalty point benefit comes on top of the best prices you get for all your adventure and outdoor booking needs.
C. Group Discounts
Reccy offers discounts for large groups, typically comprising 6 persons or more. Please contact your Reccy relationship manager to know more.
D. Cancellation Policy
In the event a customer cancels his / her booking, for any reason, before the midnight of the 8th day prior to the trip start date (to be calculated excluding the trip start date), the amount paid by the customer for that booking shall be refunded to the customer, net of a 5% transaction charge, within 7 days of the customer notifying Reccy in writing, regarding his / her decision to cancel.
In the event a customer cancels his / her booking, for any reason, before the midnight of the 4th day prior to the trip start date (to be calculated excluding the trip start date), but after the midnight of the 8th day prior to the trip start date (to be calculated excluding the trip start date), provided the customer has paid the total booking value of the trip including any applicable taxes before the midnight of the 8th day prior to the trip start date (to be calculated excluding the trip start date), Reccy shall issue to the customer a voucher equivalent to the amount paid by the customer related to that booking. The voucher can be used by the customer for making any purchase in reccytravel.com or any affiliate site, within 12 months of the voucher issuance date. No voucher shall be issued if the customer has not paid the total booking value of the trip including any applicable taxes before the midnight of the 8th day prior to the trip start date (to be calculated excluding the trip start date) or earlier.
In the event a customer cancels his / her booking, for any reason, after the midnight of the 4th day prior to the trip start date (to be calculated excluding the trip start date), no amount shall be payable, and no voucher shall be issued to the customer.

This outstanding excursion is one of the easier, shorter treks available in the Himalayas, but it still promises spectacular views. Along the way, you’ll learn about and interact with diverse ethnic populations, such as the Gurung people. This trek also offers a breadth of landscapes, including rhododendron forests, glacial lakes, and sprawling meadows.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek does not require a guide, but you are more than welcome to hire one or book through a touring company. This is still a high-altitude hike and all trekkers are encouraged to bring medicine and make the journey relatively slowly, especially after passing through Chomrong. Permits are required to enter the Annapurna Sanctuary and must be obtained before your trip. Lastly, Nepal requires all international travelers (with the exception of Indian nationals) to present a valid international visa or purchase one at the Kathmandu airport.

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a 67 kilometers long activity. From Pokhara to reaching the ABC and returning to Pokhara, the entire activity roughly takes around ten days.
Trekking is an activity that comes with inherent risks and dangers. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek has a moderate-difficulty level. It is ideal for both intermediate and seasoned trekkers, provided they have the requisite levels of fitness and training. A prior experience of a high-altitude Himalayan expedition can be a bonus.
The Annapurna Base Camp and the Everest Base Camp treks are two utterly different adventure activities. Yes, both of them take place in the Nepalese Himalayas and are considered two of the classic activities to pursue in the Himalayas. Both of them are rated moderate-difficult and are tea-house treks.
However, they are different in many aspects. The geographical location in which these two treks occur, the starting point of the trek, number of days required to complete the trek, maximum elevation, and modes of transportation differ.
The hike to the Annapurna Base Camp will not burn a hole in your pocket. Some of the standard costs that get included are the ACAP permit cost (approximately 30 USD for foreigners and 1.7-2 USD for SAARC nationals) and the TIMS Card cost (17 USD/15 EUR). The entire trekking cost can be rounded off between 700 USD/600 EUR to 1000 USD/900 EUR. Still, you should do considerable research and contact affordable travel and tourism companies if you are willing to travel on a stricter budget.
The best time to visit the Annapurna Base Camp depends on the purpose that motivates you to do the trek. The primary trekking seasons are the pre-Monsoon/Spring and the post-monsoon/Autumn, as you can get the best views during these times.
The pre-Monsoon season spans from March to May. However, April is considered to be the best month for trekking during this season because of low-humidity and pleasant weather. If natural Himalayan beauty and enjoying the calmness and peace offered by the Annapurna sanctuary are your primary targets, then you should concentrate on trekking during the end of May. However, the skies could turn cloudy, and there could be sudden downpours.
The post-Monsoon season spans from September to November. October is unarguably the best time to trek to Annapurna Base Camp. Because the skies become clearer, the weather is pleasant, and an optimum range of temperature dominates the season. You can get the most spectacular views of the Himalayas during this season.
If you wish to visit the Annapurna Base Camp and tread across snow-filled, empty trails, you can participate in this activity in January. The temperature will be drastically low, between -10 degrees Celsius to -15 degrees Celsius, and you should be well prepared.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the classic treks in the Nepalese Himalayas. Since several new and upcoming adventures take you across less-beaten trails, some question the Annapurna Base Camp trek’s worthiness and the value it offers.
But according to the experts, the Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the best high-altitude expeditions in the world. It takes you across one of the most extensive global mountain systems- the Annapurna Massif and enables you to appreciate the beauty of the stunning Himalayan peaks. Though much construction work is happening and new trails are outlined, the Annapurna Base Camp trek has retained its charm as one of those fabled activities to indulge in.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is 67 kilometers long. If you are reasonably fit, it will take you five days to hike to the Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) from Pokhara (820 m), walking 6 to 7 hours daily on average. However, you should keep an extra day within your trek itinerary to compensate for any unfavorable weather conditions.
No, officially there is no age limit to do the Annapurna Base Camp trek. However, you should be reasonably fit both physically and mentally. Children, less than seven/eight years of age are not advised for the trek. If you are taking a child below ten years of age along with you, ensure that he is reasonably fit. Try to keep the trekking itinerary light and relaxed to accommodate for their shortage of strength, pace, and endurance.
Travel insurance is mandatory when you go hiking in Nepal, not just the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. It is essential to insure yourself against accidents, injuries, and illnesses. You should be careful to insure yourself entirely during the entire duration of the trip. You should also ensure that every activity, excursion, and destination that comes under your trip activity is insured. Your insurance coverage must include helicopter evacuation and repatriation costs, apart from the regular coverages against cancellation and medical expenses.
During the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, you will have to stay overnight at Pokhara, Ghandruk, Sinuwa, Deurali, ABC, Bamboo, and Jhinu Danda. You will get a hotel or a stellar guest house at Pokhara. But the rest of the places where you will stay overnight are Nepalese villages at high altitudes. At the ABC, you will just find a small group of lodges. Therefore, the only kind of accommodation that you will get here is the fascinating tea-houses. These tea-houses are humble dwellings of the local villagers who provide you with accommodation and food to stay during the trek. They are present across your trekking trails.
The staple food is dal-bhaat (a concoction of rice cooked with lentils). You can also get yak meat curry, momos, and noodles at some of the tea-houses. Some of the tea-houses even offer cheese dumplings made from the local yak milk. Apart from these, you will get a variety of hot and cold drinks, including Buransh/rhododendron juice and the famous Nepalese tea- which will enthuse you throughout your journey. You can also try the local alcoholic beverages like Chhang and Raksi if you want to unwind and relax. You can maintain a daily budget of 25 to 30 USD for your meals, and it will suffice nicely.
Water safety is a massive problem across Nepal, not just the trekking routes. Since drinking water is not readily available during the ABC Trek and becomes immensely costly as you ascend to a higher elevation, you should carry water bottles during your treks and fill them up while staying at the tea-houses. Try not to carry plastic water bottles, and even if you do, bring them back with you after completing the trek. Carry water purification tablets if you have to fill the water bottles from random places or natural sources.
Though it is possible to travel to several places across Nepal without a guide or a porter, it is advisable to hire them before starting the trek from Pokhara. It is all the more critical when you are traveling solo because these people know the trails by heart and protect you against any unprecedented danger. A guide will also educate you about the history of the land and tell you stories about the sites that fall within your trails. A porter is particularly important when you travel with a group since they will help you carry luggage.
You should interview them well before hiring them. However, if a reputed travel and tour operator is arranging for your trek, they will recruit the guide and porter themselves. A porter's daily charge is roughly between 10 to 15 USD, whereas a guide costs approximately 30 USD each day.
Generally, if you are getting sick in between the ABC Trek, it might mean that you are affected by Acute Mountain Sickness or AMS symptoms. You should stay fully hydrated, take the medicines that you are carrying and stop ascending. However, if it gets severe, you must hike down fast and get medical assistance for yourself. For emergencies, your activity insurance should cover for helicopter evacuation.
