The crystalline blue waters of the Laguna 69 are at the top of any list of Peruvian travel’s highlights, so make sure that you take the time to hike up to this 4600m high postcard scenery. While the high altitude will challenge you, this hike can be accomplished in one day and you will be going back down at the end of the day – perfect for acclimatization!
The Laguna 69 might be a day hike, but it is nonetheless challenging so make sure to come prepared! Altitude sickness is a real concern here, so bring a lot of water and medicine if needed and do not try to rush while on the trail – take your time, enjoy the landscapes and let your body acclimatize at its own pace. While you can definitely hike solo, most tours actually offer good value packages including transportation and guides that are not far off from the price you would pay hiking on your own. In any case, you will have to pay the 30 soles entry fee to Huascaran National Park at the entrance of the trail.
